Forged on the Force

Tauris Belts and Custom Leathers was established in 1978 by Philip P. Taurisano, a former Utica, New York police officer. Philip worked alongside his brother, Michael P. Taurisano, who has operated the Tauris Holsters brand since the mid-1960s.

While collaborating with Michael—who also served as the Deputy Chief of the Utica Police Department—Philip developed a firm conviction based on his own experience on the force: there was a vital need for every officer and legal weapon carrier to have a high-quality leather belt to properly contain any holster or apparatus carrying their weapon.
